A diversified, sovereign and 100% African datacenter service offering

It is at the Village des technologies de l'information et de la biotechnologie (VITIB) that ST Digital laid the foundation stone of its next datacenter, on the morning of Friday 22 November. This is a sovereign data centre that meets international standards and market requirements. This datacenter is part of the company's Wingu (cloud in Swahili) project, which consists of hosting data from several countries locally.

A Project at the Heart of Digital Sovereignty

The future datacenter, designed in accordance with international Tier 3 standards, will meet availability requirements of up to 99.98%. It will therefore be a resilient infrastructure, capable of withstanding power outages thanks to energy redundancy.

This development also responds to a requirement set by UEMOA, which mandates that banks in the region host a portion of their data locally. For ST Digital's leadership, this issue extends well beyond regulatory compliance:

"Four years ago, we decided to tackle the issue of digital sovereignty head-on, convinced that mastery of our data is essential to the economic and technological development of our continent," explained Steve Tchouaga, Chief Executive Officer, during the project presentation.

A diversified and 100% African offering

The datacenter will not be limited to a storage role. It will offer several services tailored to the needs of businesses and individuals:

– Collocation : mise à disposition d’espaces sécurisés pour héberger des serveurs individuels.

– Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) : serveurs virtuels à la demande.

– Gestion de l’infrastructure : assistance complète pour l’exploitation des données.

– Cloud pour particuliers : une innovation notable, offrant un service accessible à tous, indépendamment de leur taille ou de leur statut.

An infrastructure designed for artificial intelligence

The project also places particular emphasis on artificial intelligence. With energy capacities of up to 40 kWh per IT rack (compared to 7 kWh for conventional installations), the datacenter will be capable of supporting complex AI projects, whether involving intensive computing or the development of new solutions.
