[Microsoft Teams] Microsoft Teams Room Windows update - November 2023 - Version 4.19.57.0

Microsoft has made available a new update for Microsoft Teams Rooms based on a Windows operating system.

It should also be noted that some of the new features are available depending on the type of licence associated with your conference room; for example, if you are using Teams Room Standard or Premium licences, new features requiring the Teams Room Pro licence will not be available.
The new features are as follows:

• Peripheral mode and the advanced settings required for Skype for Business configuration have been removed from device settings.

• Touch board form factor support. Teams Rooms on Windows now supports certified touch board form factors such as Surface Hub 3. Touch boards run the Teams Rooms touch experience on a single screen. Portrait mode/rotation on Surface Hub 3 is in preview, with further optimisations to come.

• One-Time Passcode (OTP)-based configuration. The one-time passcode (OTP) offers a new, simplified way to configure Teams Room on Windows. During initial setup, the installer has the option to enter a one-time passcode instead of resource account credentials, eliminating the need to share room account passwords. The OTP is then used to automatically retrieve the resource account credentials and sign in to Teams Rooms. Teams room administrators can provision the OTP from the Teams Rooms Pro management portal.

• Front Row enhancement – Active participant video promotion. Front Row now promotes pinned or spotlighted participants to centre stage when no shared content is present in single or dual display mode, in order to make the most of empty space. In single display mode, when no one is pinned, spotlighted, or sharing content, the most recent active speaker's video will be promoted to the centre. In dual display mode, when no one is pinned, spotlighted, or sharing content, the two most recent active speakers' videos will be promoted to the centre on each screen. If someone shares content, the most recent active speaker's video will be promoted to the right-hand screen.

• Support for joining a Teams event as an attendee.
• Content camera improvements for Teams Room on Windows.

Teams Rooms on Windows supports Microsoft-certified content cameras for sharing analogue whiteboards in meeting rooms. Customers now have the additional option of connecting any Teams-certified camera or any other camera as a content camera on Teams Rooms on Windows, offering greater ease of use.
