ST DIGITAL, a leading African company specialising in digital transformation and data centre services, has announced a major milestone in its journey towards advancing digital infrastructure in Central Africa. The company's DLA01 data centre, located in Douala, in the Littoral region, has obtained the prestigious DC OIX-2 certification, making it one of the first data centre providers in Central Africa to achieve this status. This certification, granted by theOpen-IX Association (OIX), a globally recognised and peer-evaluated standardisation body, reflects ST DIGITAL's commitment to upholding the highest standards in terms of interconnection and data centre operations.
The installation DLA01 is a milestone in the region, as it is the first operator-neutral Tier 3 data centre in Central Africa. This means it offers its clients enhanced reliability, scalability and superior performance. Furthermore, it hosts the Douala Internet Exchange (DOUALA-IX), an open and neutral peering point that treats every network operator with fairness. DOUALA-IX, which has also obtained the IXP OIX-1 certification, aims to strengthen regional connectivity and Internet performance by leveraging its strategic geographic position and its access to international and regional fibre optic cables.
By obtaining DC OIX-2 and IXP OIX-1 certifications, ST DIGITAL's facility surpasses the best standards of its category, thus setting a new benchmark for data center interconnection in the region.
ST DIGITAL's presence at DOUALA-IX fosters robust interconnection with several leading regional and international operators, includingAFRI-IX Telecom, of CAMIX NAP, from INQ Digital Cameroon SA, from Opex Network and from SWECOM, among others. This vast peering relationship network is crucial for improving connectivity, reducing latency and ensuring reliable data transfer in the region.
