In Cameroun, microfinance institutions called upon to back up their data in the cloud
ST DIGITAL CAMEROUN, Jean-Philippe LAGUNA

ST Digital, a data centre established in Cameroun, organised last March, in partnership with Anemcam (National Association of Microfinance Institutions), a workshop on the "challenges of IT outsourcing for microfinance institutions". Through this platform, the Central and West African cloud IT services company responds to the difficulties experienced by microfinance companies in the total or partial management of their IT infrastructure by connecting them with specialists.

Among the recommended solutions, the use of the cloud for IT data archiving stands at the forefront. This refers to a set of hardware, network connections, and software providing services that individuals and communities can utilize from anywhere in the world. Through this service, microfinance institutions (MFIs) can reduce and better control IT-related costs within their field of activity. It therefore offers MFIs the opportunity to benefit from the pooling of resources available through the service provider, and they can now entrust the management of their databases.

Next, data security is highlighted. To this end, ST Digital presented a simulation to educate EMFs on the savings generated by cloud usage. Furthermore, they benefit from the security of their data entrusted to cybercrime specialists, improved business productivity, and greater agility to innovate iteratively.

As a reminder, ST Digital was founded in April 2017 by Cameroonian IT specialist Anthony Same. Based in Douala, the IT services company is now established in four other countries across Central and West Africa (Togo, Bénin, Côte d'Ivoire, and Congo). In response to the decisive shift in online service consumption by businesses and public administrations profoundly impacted by the Covid crisis, ST Digital set itself the primary objective of positioning a comprehensive and integrated support service offering, in order to reduce the dependence of African companies on external providers.
