Abidjan, 25 Apr 2025 (AIP) - Around twenty journalists from radio, television, print and online press strengthened their capacities on Thursday 24 April 2025 in Abidjan, on the use ofartificial intelligence (AI), in order to better leverage them in the exercise of their profession within their respective newsrooms.


This training also aimed to strengthen their role in the face of disinformation. Initiated by ST Digital Côte d'Ivoire, a company specialising in 100% African cloud, data center and artificial intelligence solutions, the session focused on the theme "Artificial Intelligence and Media: tools, opportunities and new best practices".


Participants learned, among other things, how to write an article with the assistance of theAI, to identify relevant angles for content production, and to use theAI for information monitoring and fact-checking.


"The goal is to provide them with the various existing tools that can assist them in their day-to-day operations," explained the CEO of ST Digital, Steve Tchouaga. According to him, the journalist has a full role to play in the era of new technologies, particularly AI,AI. "We will always need journalists to tell the story, report facts in a neutral manner and investigate," he concluded.


The term "Artificial Intelligence" was coined in 1955 by John McCarthy. AI refers to the ability of machines to perform tasks generally associated with human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, or decision-making.
