ST DIGITAL in partnership with ANEMCAM (Association Nationale des Etablissements de Microfinance) presented to Microfinance Institutions (EMF) in the city of Yaoundé the benefits of entrusting the full or partial management of their IT infrastructure to a specialist. This took place during a digital breakfast organised on Wednesday, 23 March 2022 at the Djeuga Palace.

Historically, companies owned their own IT infrastructure and managed it in-house. Nowadays, it is also possible to outsource that infrastructure. It is against this backdrop that ST Digital, the first neutral operator of a tier 3 construction datacenter in Central Africa, organised a workshop on 23 March: "Challenges of IT outsourcing for microfinance institutions". Through the use of the cloud, companies can indeed entrust the total or partial management of their information system.

Reasons to "cloudify".

By outsourcing its IT infrastructure, MFIs can reduce and better control IT-related costs. With a level of reliability, quality, and performance guaranteed by the service provider, outsourcing is in reality less expensive than on premise (on-site) management. Indeed, it allows organizations to benefit from the pooling of resources available to the service provider, both in terms of human and material resources, as well as storage.

Furthermore, delegating this task also enables better cost control. A simulation was presented to the MFIs, who were able to see the economies of scale they could achieve by outsourcing. Of course, MFIs also benefit from the security of their data entrusted to cybercrime specialists, improved business productivity, and the ability to innovate rapidly in an agile manner.

Benefit from the expertise of ST Digital

If IT is not your core business, outsourcing your infrastructure is a particularly advantageous solution. It allows you to benefit from the provider's knowledge and expertise, as well as from its engineers and technicians. It is also an opportunity to take advantage of a high-end, well-maintained infrastructure, ensuring quality services.

The workshop concluded with a series of questions and answers. Participants left satisfied. It offers rental, colocation and data hosting services.
