Manually maintained civil registration records and the documents produced reveal significant quality gaps: they are often poorly maintained or cannot be located. Few individuals and major life events are documented. The standards recommended by the United Nations for civil registration systems — namely the continuous, compulsory, permanent and universal recording of civil registration data — are not systematically met. The absence of digitalisation hinders the statistical function of civil registration. Municipalities continue to face major challenges in implementing an inclusive and reliable civil registration and vital statistics system.
In response to this situation, the Cameroonian Government, in partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany, launched the Programme d'Appui à la Modernisation de l'Etat Civil (PAMEC)
It is with pride that the Digital Agency and ST DIGITAL, pioneers of digital transformation in Africa
for 5 years, are participating in this large-scale project at the heart of 100% African Transformation. The digitalisation project for Cameroun's civil registration through the Programme d'Appui à la Modernisation de l'Etat Civile will enable the implementation of an inclusive and reliable civil registration and vital statistics system (PAMEC).
The authorities of Cameroun, along with the Chief Executive Officer of ST DIGITAL and his colleagues, took part in this event dedicated to digitalisation.
