Microsoft announces new security solutions to enable companies to better secure their multicloud and hybrid environments.

To adapt to an increasingly complex environment, companies are turning more and more to multicloud and hybrid environments. While cloud, mobile and Edge technologies have enabled businesses to adapt and continue their operations during the crisis, they are also a source of complexity for security and compliance teams. All the more so in a context where cyberattacks are multiplying and becoming increasingly sophisticated.

According to the Flexera 2021 report on the state of the cloud, 78% of companies have adopted hybrid cloud infrastructures, which consist of using applications and infrastructures from different providers.

The securing of these environments then becomes a major challenge, given that the number of platforms, devices, users and services in use is also growing exponentially. 83% of executives perceive multicloud complexity as the major challenge to manage in 2022, according to a Microsoft study.

To simplify the security of these multicloud IT environments, Microsoft announces new solutions and updates:

The extension of Microsoft Defender for Cloud to Google Cloud Platform (GCP): extended native capabilities to protect customers across diverse cloud infrastructures. With GCP support, Microsoft is now the only cloud provider to offer native multicloud protection for the three major platforms in the industry: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and now Google Cloud Platform.

The public preview of CloudKnox Permissions Management, which provides complete visibility across all identities across different clouds, with automated functionalities and continuous security vigilance based on machine learning to detect and remediate suspicious activities.

New features in Microsoft Sentinel, relating to access and analysis of security data, including "basic logs", which allow browsing large volumes of data and identifying high-severity, low-visibility threats, as well as new data archiving capabilities.

Updates in Azure Active Directory to protect identities; in Microsoft Endpoint Manager to address Android and MacOS endpoint compliance requirements; and in Azure for improved payment security with Azure Payment HSM.
