Its purpose, ambitions and missions were outlined on 22 February 2023 by its Executive Board in Libreville.
The 1st trade union of technology companies (TECH241) was officially presented on 22 February 2023 in Libreville. This meeting, organised by its Executive Board, was open to all stakeholders operating in the tech sector in Gabon. The aim was to outline its purpose, its missions and its governance.
Bringing together around fifty companies specialising in tech, digital services, or digital experts, this meeting provided an opportunity to share the vision at the heart of TECH 241's unifying initiative: to contribute to making Gabon a centre of excellence in digital technology and digital market transformation by 2030. In a context favourable to the rise of a dynamic Gabonese digital economy, the main missions of the TECH241 trade union are organised around the following actions:
- Advocate for the interests of businesses and digital professionals before local and international bodies;
- Promote the best standards in digital technology and IT;
- Produce and leverage statistics aimed at improving knowledge of the sector;
- Contributing to continuous training and professional exchanges among industry stakeholders.
Like inclusive professional federations, the governance of the TECH 241 union includes an Executive Board responsible for implementing the action plan adopted collegially, supported by commission chairs and subject to a vote by a General Assembly of members every 5 years. The Executive Board comprises:
Loïc Kapitho, President (Co-founder and Executive Director of POZI)
Yannick Ebibie, Vice-President (Chief Executive Officer of SING)
Laika Mba, Secretary-General in charge of Administration (Chief Executive Officer of ST Digital)
Yoan Mabicka, Secretary-General in charge of Members (Chief Executive Officer of Yametek)
Bertrand Guizard, Treasurer (Chief Executive Officer of Initial Développement)
Thus, for the Executive Board, "this meeting, marking the launch of the union's activities, is an opportunity to call upon companies and experts who subscribe to the vision, the missions, and who share our values to join us in advancing the Gabonese digital economy together. We are convinced that this unique platform will enable us to promote the skills and expertise of all technology sector stakeholders, to collectively access a network of technical and financial partners, to develop synergies, and to contribute to the establishment of a framework conducive to the emergence of digital economy champions."
This meeting therefore marks the formal launch of the union's membership campaign. The registration form and terms are available at www.tech241.com
