Télé' Asu: Data backup, the ST DIGITAL datacenter unveiled
ST DIGITAL, Fabrice ADZRAKOU
Managers from around fifteen public, parapublic and private organisations visited the Tier 3-designed Datacenter on Thursday, 13 April 2023. In addition to the best value for money, ST Digital executives indicated that the infrastructure meets the highest security standards.

As he finishes his tour of the ST DIGITAL Datacenter facilities, Loic Meli has a radiant face and sparkling eyes.

Quote from Loic MELI, founder of the start-up Camercrach Sarl: "I am pleasantly surprised by what I saw and heard today. I was not aware that this type of infrastructure already existed in Cameroun, and moreover the offering meets my needs exactly. I did not know I could find in Cameroun what I was looking for, based on what we have planned for our organization, which we are in the process of launching and which is currently in the testing phase. This is therefore a relief for us because we have found a local supplier."

Like this young entrepreneur, on April 13th in Douala, a total of around fifteen public, parapublic, and private organizations came to see, touch, and understand the workings of this Tier 3-designed Datacenter. Among the organizations present was the Centre national de développement de l'informatique (Cenadi), which came to observe and provide oversight for this private initiative. Joseph BILONG, Research Officer, Head of Operations and Software at Cenadi, noted: "One of Cenadi's missions is to oversee all stakeholders in the IT ecosystem and to collaborate with them in order to advance the field of information technology itself. Today, there are legal gaps, there are gaps in the actual quality of network hosting equipment. Cenadi decided: why not engage with the actors who are already doing something, to work together and see how to improve this ecosystem, and in particular that of datacenters. That is what justifies my presence here."

And the Datacenter reassures more than one. More and more companies are outsourcing their data and proposals such as those from ST DIGITAL appear as a relief. The microfinance institution Acep, engaged in the process of outsourcing some of its virtual servers, came to see and get a hands-on look at what was being offered to them. Satisfaction was noted here as well, with a point in favour of the quality-to-price ratio. "I spoke with other hosting providers, and one of the things that impressed me most here is the best quality-to-price ratio. And that is very important for a microfinance institution. But I am also impressed by what I saw during the visit and what I heard. I hope the fruits will keep the promise of the flowers." said Léopold MVOGO, Director of Information Systems at Acep.

By organising this visit for companies, the objectives were clear. According to Maurice MONSO of ST DIGITAL, the aim was for the company to make the Datacenter infrastructure known to the invited IT Directors, to show them what ST DIGITAL has at the Datacenter level and which can support them in the context of their service outsourcing project, whether in terms of colocation or rental of virtual servers, physical servers and even related services. "Several rooms were visited, including the main hosting room which offers colocation services, where companies can have their equipment hosted. In the rental section, ST DIGITAL has the ability to make physical servers or dedicated servers available to clients, or to offer backup, messaging and all associated services. The NOC, which is the control room for the entire infrastructure, where the Datacenter is supervised and monitored, covering all energy parameters, security parameters and air conditioning parameters, was also visited," he concluded.
