The Importance of Early Breast Cancer Detection

Early breast cancer screening is a crucial step in increasing the chances of recovery and reducing the side effects of treatments. As a company committed to the health and well-being of our employees, ST DIGITAL wishes to raise awareness of the importance of this practice. Here is why early screening is essential and how it can save lives.

What is early screening?

Early screening involves detecting breast cancer before visible symptoms appear. Common methods include mammography, ultrasound, and MRI. These examinations make it possible to detect small anomalies, often invisible to the naked eye or non-palpable;

The Benefits of Early Detection

  1. Increased chances of recovery: The earlier breast cancer is detected, the higher the chances of recovery. Statistics show that early detection enables the diagnosis of tumours smaller than 2 cm, which significantly improves survival rates.
  2. Reduction of intensive treatments : Early diagnosis often makes it possible to limit the size and extent of the tumour, thereby reducing the need for aggressive treatments such as chemotherapy. This also reduces side effects and improves patients' quality of life.
  3. Less stress and anxiety: Knowing that you are regularly monitored and that any anomaly will be detected quickly can reduce the stress and anxiety associated with the fear of cancer

How does screening take place?

  • Mammography : Recommended every two years for women aged 50 to 74, mammography is the reference examination for breast cancer screening. It can detect even very small anomalies
  • Ultrasound: Used as a complement to mammography, particularly for women with dense breasts, ultrasound can help clarify suspicious images.
  • MRI: Recommended for high-risk women, MRI is a highly sensitive method for detecting breast cancer.

Early breast cancer screening is a powerful weapon in the fight against this disease. By getting screened regularly, you increase your chances of detecting cancer at an early stage, which can save your life. At ST DIGITAL, we encourage all our female employees to participate in screening programmes and to take care of their health.
